Androgel (temporary useage question)?
James asked:
I am a 21 year old with a total testosterone level of 530. That happens to fall on the lower end of the range, however it is still within the range of normal. My urologist wants me to start on Androgel to boost the numbers, who feels at my age, the boost in testosterone would remain since the underlying cause for me is a varacocele lowering the testosterone.. he said i would only be on androgel for six months, and that this would NOT be a lifelong commitment as is the usual scenerio with testosterone replacement therapy…. my question, is it REALLY safe and would it be at all effective to use Androgel for six months and then be permanently brought off?

James if you follow your doctors orders you will have no problems. Yes there are some who get treated for awhile short term. I don't think your that low, as you state your within normal range, but your doctor knows best. Did he say what the benefit would be for you that he is looking for? He must have reason for doing it. I ask him what that then make a decision. Good Luck! Steve
